Spray/Sputtering/Dribbling
Cause: A loose seal.
- For MISTO's with a concaved bottom, no
writing: Unscrew your screw collar as if you were going to
fill it with oil and simply re-screw it back down as it might
not have seated right on the threads and make sure its snug tight,
pump 15 full pumps and try again.
- For MISTO's with a silver bottom with writing
or black bottom with writing: Unscrew your screw collar and
pull the mechanism out as if you were going to fill it with oil,
hold the cylinder in your hand and pop the screw collar off by
pushing up under it with your thumb. Place the mechanism back
in the canister and screw the collar back on, you will feel and
hear a click. Tighten it a little more, pump 15 full pumps and
try again. (The click is the collar re- attaching it self to
the mechanism. If you unscrew again you will see it is all one
piece).
Replace the spray mechanism if these steps have not stopped the
problem.

No Pressure
Cause: Loose seal (see above), missing washer
or broken pump tube.
- For MISTO's with a concaved bottom, no
writing: Unscrew your screw collar and take it off. Pull out
the mechanism as if you were going to fill it with oil. There
should be a black rubber washer under the lip of the mechanism
where it rests on the canister. If this is missing you will need
a new washer.
- For MISTO's with a silver bottom with writing
or black bottom with writing:
Unscrew your screw collar and pull the mechanism out as if you
were going to fill it with oil. Turning it upside down there should
be a black rubber washer under the white collar. If this is missing
then you will need a new washer.
The pump tube in the cap of the MISTO® is the same
for all models. To check to see if your pump tube is broken you
will need to look at the end of the tube. The end of the tube is
flared out a little. There should be a slit half way around the
lip. This is the valve slot and it is what creates the pressure.
You should not see this valve slot unless you pry it back. Please
do not pry it back as it needs to be flush with the rest of the
tube. If it appears to be pried back, hanging, or the slit appears
to be more then half way around or visibly a piece has broken off
you will need to replace the pump tube.
Streaming
Cause: Too much oil, solidified oil in nozzle
(clog) or a loose seal.
- If your MISTO® is relatively
new, a loose seal could be causing the problem. Please refer to
the steps in the first section.
- Make sure that you are measuring 1/3 cup of
oil as over filling it will cause streaming.
- When was the last time you cleaned your MISTO®
and did you clean it properly? Solidified oil in the sprayer will
create a clog and cause streaming. Please see the cleaning instructions
below.
Cleaning
We always recommend washing you MISTO®
using directions included in the instructions booklet to keep the
internal assembly clean and working properly. MISTO®
will need to be cleaned approximately every 6 to 8 weeks to keep
it working smoothly or every time you refill.
- Fill the MISTO® 1/2 full with
hot tap water adding a drop of detergent.
- Close it up.
- Pump 10-15 times and spray for 10 seconds
and repeat a couple of times.
- Allow the soapy water to remain in the sprayer
for several hours or even overnight. This will let the soap break
down any oil that has solidified.
- Rinse and repeat with warm water until the
soap is gone.
- Pump MISTO® with just air and
spray any remaining water droplets out and let it dry completely
before refilling.
Replace the spray mechanism if these steps
have not stopped the streaming problem.

MISTO® TIPS
- Measure 1/3 cup of oil for the MISTO®,
less is more, more will cause it to stream and this will also
keep the oil you are using fresher.
- Clean your MISTO® every 6-8
weeks or every time you refill to keep internal assembly clean
and working properly.
- Make sure your white screw collar is snug
tight. Do not over tighten, but make sure there is a tight seal.
- Increase pressure by pumping 15-20 times.
This will ensure a fine mist and the spray will last a little
longer.
- When spraying hold the MISTO®
at a slight angle, but no more than 45°
